Can I apply if I don’t have a bachelor’s degree?

At Edulive we strongly believe that education is always a great asset. We love to see our teachers studying and learning. We prefer our teachers to hold a degree or be working towards finishing a degree. All applicants are required to hold a TESOL, TEFL, or CELTA certificate or equivalent. Where do I have to live to be eligible to work for EDULIVE?

We love applicants from native speakers all over the world as long as you have a strong reliable stable internet connection.

What is the application process like?

Your application process consists of 4 steps, there will be a confirmation email sent at the end of each step letting you know if you will be moving on to the next step:

Step 1: Sign up on the EDULIVE official website, and film your self introduction video.

Step 2: An interview via Skype with EDULIVE teacher co-ordinator.

Step 3: Film your demo video

Step 4: Sign your contract agreement

How long is the contract?

We offer teachers a 6-month renewable contract.

What kind of commitment is there?

Teachers are contracted for a maximum of 42 hours per week, a limit of 6 hours per day. We require teachers to commit to at least 10 teaching hours per month.

What equipment do I need?

– A computer with an HD webcam to provide a clear picture to students.

– A headset with a microphone for clear sound.

– A stable internet connection (wired connection is preferred to WIFI)

– Google Chrome browser.

I cannot sign up on the website! What should I do?

The interview

How do I schedule and interview?

You will receive an email with an interview invitation when your resume passes through screening.  You will then be able to login to our teachers page where you can schedule and interview. The interview will be held Thailand time which is GMT+7.

Where will the interview take place?

The interview with EDULIVE takes place on Skype. The teaching co-ordinator will add you to Skype beforehand.

What will the interview be like?

The interview will last between 10-15 minutes. After the interview is complete if you have passed you will be required to film a demo lesson along with and introduction of yourself.  This will be around 20 minutes in length. The video will show you teaching a sample lesson including a greeting, sample lesson, and goodbye to your student.

What is the application process like?

Why is the interview so important?

The interview is very important.  The interview alongside your qualifications will decide whether or not you will be accepted as part of the EDULIVE teaching community.

What will I be evaluated on during the mock lesson?

– TPR (Total Physical Response)

– Warm up and context setting (have an appropriate fun background)

– Encouraging corrections and feedback

– Appropriate language

– Engagement with student

– Class management and timing.

– Ability to use props

How do I become a successful in interview process?

– Practice the interview material beforehand. 

– Teach from a place with a good background, strong internet connection (minimum   upload of 2MBps) and excellent lighting.

– Mandatory use of a headset with a microphone and an HD webcam.

– Be energetic, engaging, and encouraging to your student the entire lesson

What will I be evaluated on during the interview?

– Accent clearness (are students able to understand you clearly.)

– Appearance

– Confidence

– Voice quality (do you speak clearly)

– Internet speed and Camera and headset quality

Becoming a teacher

What are the different types of classes?

Edulive offers 4 different levels of classes:

  • Young learners (6-12)
  • Teenagers (13-20)
  • General conversation (13+)
  • English at work (20+)
Do I need to be able to speak Thai?

No, you do not need to speak Thai.  It is strongly encouraged that Thai is not spoken during the lesson as the student should focus on English only.

Do I need to prepare teaching materials?

No, Edulive supplies all teaching materials. Once your classes are booked you are expected to review your lessons and prepare your props for the class.

Do teachers need to communicate directly with the parents?

No, EDULIVE teacher support team will communicate with the parents if need arises.  If you have a problem and need to communicate with the parents, contact our team via email.  

Do teachers always teach the same students?

No, students are able to pick their teachers.  If a student really enjoys your class they can select you to be their regular teacher.

Do classes take place on Skype or on another platform?

EDULIVE has developed its own educational platform to facilitate our one-to-one classes.

Payment

How much can I earn?

Edulive teachers will receive 400tbh ($13USD) per hour. For each day worked per month Edulive will pay the teacher an additional 100tbh ($3.5USD).

What are the minimum hours?

As long as you meet the required 10 hours per month you are able to work as much or little as you see fit.

When and how will teachers be paid?

Teachers’ salaries will be transferred into their PayPal account on the 5th of each month.

Where can I find my income and billing information?

You can find your income and billing information on your online teaching platform.

Does EDULIVE pay teacher’s tax?

EDULIVE deducts 3% to take care of tax in Thailand. EDULIVE is not responsible for taking care of tax in your own country.

Can teachers take breaks during their contract?

Teachers are able to select their hours bi-weekly.  Teachers can take as much time off as long as they meet the 10 hour minimum for the month.  It is encouraged teachers do not take too much time off if they want regular students.

Scheduling

What hours can teachers pick?

EDULIVE offers classes from 6:00 GMT+7 to 24:00 GMT+7.  Teachers are able to teach up to a maximum of 6 hours per day. Teachers can break up their hours throughout the day or teach back to back lessons.

How do I know if a lesson has been booked?

You will see your schedule on your teachers page.  The lessons that have been booked will be clearly indicated.

How far in advanced must lessons be booked?

Lessons can start being booked up to 24 hours in advance of the lesson.  You will need to check your teachers page to stay updated.

I am sick and I need to cancel my classes. What should I do?

You are able to take emergency leave 24 hours before the lesson.  Failure to do so will result in a warning. You can take emergency sick leave 6 hours before your lessons if you have a doctor’s note.

How many students do I teach in a class?

All Edulive classes and 1 to 1 to provide 100% attentiveness to each student.

What are the minimum working hours required?

Teachers are required to teach 10 hours per month.

What are the maximum amount of working hours?

Teachers are only allowed to teach up to 6 hours per day to maintain a high quality of teaching 42 hours a week.

How long is each class?

Each EDULIVE class is 25 minutes long.

How do students know how they did during their lesson?

As a teacher you are required at the end of the lesson to leave a comment between 150 -500 characters talking about the students pronunciation, performance, focus, and overall understanding of the lesson. The teacher will also rate the students pronunciation, vocabulary, speaking, and reading. The comment page will be found on the teachers page.

What if my student doesn’t show up?

If your student doesn’t show up to your scheduled lesson you will need to wait the entire 25 minutes on the platform.  You will be given ½ your slot rate.

What is the class schedule time?

Classes are held at the following times (GMT +7): 

 

  • Monday – Friday: 6:00-24:00
  • Saturday: 8:00-24:00
  • Sunday: 8:00-22:00
